My own experience of receiving Spiritual Direction has been life changing. I had no idea I was carrying so much grief! Living life includes disappointments, loss, unfulfilled dreams, as well as family vacations, promotions, and celebrations. But we often don’t take time to process the sadness or disappointments. Gradually our joy is diminished and God may feel distant as we keep “shoulding” ourselves. I love to listen and create space for people to be seen and heard; to sit with others in sadness or celebration; to witness God’s gentleness and compassion take someone by surprise. It is such a privilege to share in someone’s journey as they experience healing and the return of joy, or to see someone’s calling clarified and become front and center. I am a life-long learner and follower of Jesus. Most of my career has been in academic medicine as a pediatrician with a brief stint as an associate pastor. One of my interests is the intersection of how the body informs our understanding and integration of life experiences. I have an M.Div. from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, D. Min. from Gordon-Conwell, and my Spiritual Direction Certification is from the Fall Creek Abbey in Indianapolis.
